Thieves Steal £50m Of Jewellery From Tamara Ecclestone

Tamara Ecclestone has become victim to a jewellery raid, with £50 million of her collection being taken from her London property.

Three burglars are thought to have entered the daughter of Formula 1 tycoon Bernie Ecclestone’s £70 million home on Kensington Palace Gardens at around 23:30 last Friday (December 13th), reported the Mail Online.

They spent less than an hour in the Billionaires’ Row house in west London, walking away with some of Tamara’s most expensive pieces of jewellery. These included a £80,000 Cartier bangle wedding gift.

A source told The Sun: “Whoever did this was in the house for 50 minutes in total and had time to smash open the safes that are hidden in Tamara’s dressing room and Jay’s dressing room. Neither would be easy to find.”

It was added that the burglars gained access to the house through the back garden, before escaping through an open window after they were disturbed by a security guard.

The thieves were certainly ambitious, as the eldest Ecclestone daughter has an incredibly strong security team protecting the 57-room gated property. This includes 24-hour security patrols, armed police at either end that look after the nearby embassies, and multiple checkpoints.

After the intruders were spotted, police were called to the home. While they confirmed expensive jewellery had been taken from the 35-year-old’s house, no arrests have been made.

The F1 heiress is currently on holiday with her husband, Jay Rutland, and five-year-old daughter, Sophia. They had just boarded a private jet to Lapland when the raid occurred, suggesting the burglars were aware they would not be in the property at the time.

Miss Ecclestone’s 89-year-old father told the Mail Online he believes the theft was undertaken by someone close to the family who knew they were on holiday and where the safes were, saying: “Given the security at the house, I’m assuming it was an inside job.”

While the contents of the burglary has not been confirmed, Ms Ecclestone has publicly worn very expensive pieces of jewellery in the past, some of which might have been stolen by the thieves.

These high-value pieces include two diamond engagement rings worth £250,000 each; a £100,000 Hublot sports watch; a £50,000 yellow gold Rolex Daytona; a £50,000 Cartier Ballon diamond watch; several pairs of diamond earrings worth £50,000 each; and Cartier love bracelets at £63,000 a piece.

Neighbours of Ms Ecclestone at the Kensington Palace Gardens address are likely to be concerned their homes could be targeted next, as they would also have a lot of expensive items that are worth stealing.

Homeowners nearby include Chelsea Football Club owner Roman Abramovich, China’s richest man Wang Jianlin, the Sultan of Brunei, and Foxtons’ founder Jon Hunt. Prince William and his family also live close by in Kensington Palace. Despite the constant patrol by Diplomatic Protection Group police officers, this theft shows every property in the area is at risk.
